The entire fourth year of the project will make it’s premiere on April 18, 2013 at a show entitled ProJekt LA curated by Kate Osba at space15Twenty in Hollywood CA. Hope to see you there!

EXHIBITION EXTENDED

Great news from NextSpace LA — the show has been getting so much positive response that NextSpace wants to keep it installed for another month: now it’s up through the end of February!

That’s another whole month to stop in and see the entire first three years of the project — 90 prints in all. And if you think music, a crowd, and good wine and beer makes looking at pictures even more fun (which it does, of course) then please stop in for the closing reception.

Pictured to the left are new 5x7” postcards announcing the show’s extension.

OPENING RECEPTION A SUCCESS!

On October 22, 2011, the first three years of 28 at 28 went on view at NextSpace LA’s atrium, with 90 prints chronicling my peers’ personal evolution from 2009 through 2011.

INSTALLATION COMPLETE

Once I’d made a few trips up and down the 24’ extension ladder to measure and hang the floating mounts for the photos, I realized that I’d arranged for a very ambitious installation.

The plan was to install 90 18x24” prints on a 22’ tall by 50’ long cast concrete wall.

After a week of long days and nights in NextSpace’s atrium, an hour before the opening was scheduled to start, with the white wine on ice and the DJ testing the speakers, it sunk in: I’d achieved my goal and hung a taxonomic display of the entire body of work to date. I’d fit each photo from the complete 28 at 28, 29 at 29, and 30 at 30 into a grid that filled the space.

The atrium, with floating staircase bringing the viewer to the higher photos as she ascends, is beautifully suited to the work. I couldn’t be happier or more energized to continue with the serial project in the years to come.

Thank you to the 28 at 28 subjects who made themselves available for shoots since July of 2009, and for the enthusiasm of the friends and colleagues who helped me put the installation together in the last few months.
